That’s why we’re bringing you possibly the best edible playdough recipe for you and your tiny human.
It’s free from nasties, edible (hang on, we already said that) and no-cook. And it’s marble!
This quick, no-cook playdough recipe gives you extra time with your little one and delivers silky-smooth playdough that will last for days (possibly weeks) if stored correctly.
What we love most are the marble effects. Why settle for one colour when you can have them all, right?
Pick your favourite natural food colours and create a few colour combos by splitting the playdough into smaller portions as you go along.

Ingredients
- 390 g (3 cups) flour
- 370 g (1 ½ cups) salt
- 80 g (1/2 cup) cream of tartar
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- 500 ml (2 cups) boiling water

How much we spent
- 1 kg salt $1.50
- 1 kg flour $1
- natural food colouring $4-$6
Instructions
Combine the dry ingredients and cooking oil in a bowl then add the boiling water.
Stir well until the mixture leaves the sides of the bowl. If the mixture is too sticky, add a little more flour.
Turn out onto a floured surface and knead for a few minutes before wrapping in baking paper and allowing to rest for 15 minutes.
Divide the playdough into small balls. Add a few drops of your chosen food colouring onto each ball and knead the colour into the dough until you have a marbled effect.
